Raket Idea!

Apparently, the family of the guy who coined the word "googol" is planning to sue the company Google for some unspecified sum.

"They are playing off that number and not compensating us even a little bit," says the great-niece who hardly ever got to know her uncle but could use some of Google's dough she feels is coming like a gravy train without brakes on. "Ethically, they could have been more giving. If nothing else, they should have given us the opportunity to operate as insiders for the IPO."

Dear readers, how about this: find something in your life to call a "micketymoc". Maybe, like, "damn, but this micketymoc tastes good!" when referring to your wife's delicious couscous salad? Or perhaps, "what kind of micketymoc are you?" to refer to some dumbass who nearly sideswipes your dog on the sidewalk. I don't care if it's insulting, people. The key is to get a snowball effect rolling, enough for some enterprising, er, enterprise to launch in a few years' time as micketymoc dot com!

And then I'll sue his pants off.

It's been a while...

...considering the big move back home, to a few weeks chilling out, to getting back in touch with old friends. (chilling out? In this summer heat? The Manila summer heat is close to hellish - the sunlight bounces off the completely-concreted landscape, frying everything in sight.)

Your humble blogger, in the meantime, has become a big political junkie. When I'm playing couch commando, the TV's tuned almost constantly to ANC. I'm thirsty for breaking news on every imaginable political development, as of late heating up as infernally as the summer sizzle that covers everything in this sorry metropolis.

My impromptu takes, while I don't have the energy to hyperlink crazily like I always do:

- Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will win, and good for her. Now she has to do something about her husband.

- I'm glad I voted for Akbayan. Watching Etta Rosales speaking off the cuff on ANC, I'm confident that this was one vote that hit home.

- FPJ and his party are living in a dream world. I've found it particularly cynical that his handlers value his "winnability" above his ability to do the job. They've hit on the winnability button for months, but sadly people are beginning to wake up. Better the mataray bitch you know, than the amiable giant who will resurrect the usual gang of idiots from the Erap presidency.
